Camera from two nestboxes of common swift. Common swifts are small, migratory birds who are excellent in flying. Except when nesting, swifts spend their lives in the air, living on the insects caught in flight; they drink, feed, and often mate and sleep on the wing. They are able to gain even two kilometres hight during flight. Avarage speed is 35 km/h but they can reach to 200 km/h. Swifts are able to survive for a few days without food by dropping their body temperature and metabolic rate, entering a torpid state. They feed mainly on insect.

To Czech republic they come in april and may.

While tree holes together with cliffs may have been their historic nesting resource, the almost complete removal of ancient forest from their nesting range has resulted in adaption to man-made sites. Swifts build their nests of air-borne material caught in flight, bonded with their saliva, in suitable buildings hollows, such as under tiles, in gaps beneath window sills, and most typically under eaves and within gables.

19:22 prckové jsou ve spodní budce vidět, 19 :23 vykukují i v horní budce, samičkám musí být horko, chladí se

Dnes se v každé budce vyklubal další prcek. Tak už zbývá ve spodní budce na zítra poslední vajíčko a bude komplet 🙂
