Great tit is the most common european species of tits. It has unmistakable coloring. Belly is yellow with black stripe, black cap and black-trimmed white cheeks. The back is green and wings are blue-gray.

Great tit is big as house sparrow. It has typical lenght around 13 to 15 cm. In Czech republic nests all around country and it is really territorial. Size of the territory depends on surrounding.

It nests in hollow of trees, nest boxes and in piles of wood twice a year from April to July. Females usually lay from 7 to 12 eggs. The lenght of sitting on eggs is between 12 to 17 days. Only female sits on eggs while man feeds her. Chicks leave nest after at least 14 days.
