Eagle webcam from a nest in Latvia
Sea eagle - description
Nest of sea eagles is located in Sliteres National Park.
The Latvian Fund for Nature provides live broadcasts from a protected bird's nest thanks to the work of many volunteers and community donations.
The nesting area of the sea eagle has been known in the locality since 2010 - initially the eagles nested in an artificial nest that was about 20 years old, then in 2013 they moved and built a new nest 200 meters further.
For the next five years the nest was uninhabited and the place where the birds had moved was unknown. In the winter of 2000 the nest was visited by a couple of rock eagles, but one of the birds was immature and nesting did not begin in the spring.
The CCTV system was installed in early 2019. In the autumn, a couple of sea eagles began to visit the nest, both birds are without a ring, suggesting that at least one or perhaps both eagles are new to the area - in 2013, when the nest was last observed. eagle ringed.
This is one of the two sites of the eagles known in the Slitere National Park (the third site was once located just outside the park). Birds are expected to feed off the sea and inland when nesting begins to get a good idea.
The camera system was installed in the nest by Jänis Ķuze and Jānis Rudzītis. We thank Helmut Hofmann for his help in maintaining the system!

Sea eagle - live

Discussion
26.3.20 Arrival of both eagles at 18,48 - at 18,51 first mating - at 18,59 second mating.
From 19 pm beautiful shots - among others Silva is looking at the camera - both leave at dusk at 19,34 am.
25.3.20 Slitter is on the nest from 12,15 to 13,51 with shorter breaks, when it flies off for twigs. A strong wind blows - at times he has something to do to stay in the nest. He still arrives for three minutes at 14,53 - he brought a branch. Then it disappears.
24.3 18:59:04 stranger young on the nest
He already had a yellow beak (the last visitor still had a black one) - it was a short stopover. So the weather is not much 🙂
Yeah, yeah this one was so four years old.
24.3 Male Sliter stayed in the nest overnight, the female arrived at 05:56:20
23.3 Eagles in the evening in the nest, beautiful shots - the male is lying in the nest, 18:44:50 the female is looking at the camera. The female then jumped on a branch, before dark the males were still lying in the nest.
Beautiful shots 🙂
Arrival of both at 18,36 - litter brought today! At 18,55 mating - at 19,03 Silva disappears from the nest and Slitter remains on the nest, his white tail feathers are visible at 19,50.
23.3. from 6,00 - 6,13 on the nest Slitter - brought a twig and waits …… then flies away. Nice shot of the departure and you can hear the rustling of the wings 🙂
23.3 Eagles already have names! Silva and Slitter I wish everyone a nice and peaceful day
Thank you for the nice information, they will finally not be anonymous :-). Have a nice day and good health !!!
22.3. at 9,18 mating
Good morning, local eagles are still mating (06:38:37) and with eggs it will probably take a few days. The nest is very nice and the nesting tree seems to me much better, less problematic than the one in Durbe. They are handy and hopefully they will thrive here. 🙂
From 8,35 they are on the nest again - with smaller breaks up to 9,35.
17.3 This morning, the eagles on the nest….
https://forums.dabasdati.lv/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=4037
So here the male has dark spots on his tail like Milda in Durbe - two smaller ones. Thanks 🙂
Like here in Durbe, are we going to see the first egg here? 🙂
12.3 - 16:01 the eagle brought a piece of hay to the nest - probably a female
10.3 - 07:07:18 young eagle on the nest
Thanks Petra, he's beautiful
Here, too, they have intruders ………. 🙂 but he's a dude.
9.3 12:09:10 Eagle on the nest
Good morning everyone, I add the Latvian forum to the nest:
https://forums.dabasdati.lv/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=4037
Good morning on the new nest .. First time I saw the local home staff and also sex (08:58:31) and I would say that the male was doing quite well. 🙂
6.3 New camera !! Information about the nest in the description… From observation: March 5 - eagle with a ring H488 visited the nest
Information from Jānis Kuze: I was ringing an eagle as the only chick in the nest around Auce 25.5.2017 This is the first observation ever since.
6.3.2020 Hello. Thank you for another nest, Knips that fell out, I remember that.
Hello Mrs. Maruška, you are welcome. Knips fell out of another nest, that was the nest in Kurzeme.
Good evening, Mrs. Petro, thanks a lot for your work and the opportunity to watch another nice pair of eagles. It is a different "point of view" 🙂.
Around 10,35 they are both visible - very nice. Thanks again 🙂
Good evening Mrs. Leono, many thanks to the ornithologists in Latvia. at 17:58:40 one of the eagles arrived with a twig, I don't know them at all yet 🙂 At 10:30 the male wanted to mate, he was not successful and when he jumped off the female's back, she knelt him. Maybe they'll nest together for the first time. Again we have something to learn…
Hats off to all those enthusiasts involved in this project. Janis Kuze has it "popped up" when he has to commute between nests scattered throughout Latvia, if necessary. For example, from Durbe it is about 170 km to Sliteres National Park. I don't know where some centers are, but it's a shot. // I have a request for you, Petro: M + R states Kurzeme, Durbe district - but I haven't been able to find Kurzeme in Durbe district for a long time. Under this name there is about 3 times something else, or it turns out to be Curonia. You don't happen to have a clue, a name, etc. Me... read more
It's Curonian - Latvian: Kurzeme. As sea eagles are protected, the exact location of the nest is never stated. The territory and district uvádí are usually indicated. The Latvian Ornithological Society and the Latvian Nature Fund are based in the capital Riga.
Thank you very much for the clarification, that's enough for me. I was just confused by Curonia. With that exact identification, it is clear to me, I consider it normal and obvious !!! Years ago - when watching wild boars in Estonia - it was the same. They never gave the exact location. And thanks for that Riga 🙂
(ps in Decorah is 4.3rd egg from XNUMX.)
I do not know the nests as carefully as Mrs. Leona, I admire it. And especially you Petra, you are a well of knowledge, thank you very much for the information. I know Courland from literature. And thanks to B. Nemcova. Doubts about its origin and reading of books by Helena Sobková led me to the Courland. Prince Curonian Petr Biron, father of Catherine Vilemína Zaháňská and Dorothey von Biron, Duchess of Curonian, later sold the Curonian to the Tsar, but if it is true that Duchess of Curonian Dorotea is the mother of B. Němcová, her genes may interfere with Latvia. Milda and Raimis are the Kurons eagles. I apologize, I know this isn't part of the surveillance, but history is my weakness. Thank you and greetings.
Greetings Maruška, Mrs. Leona knows about every twig that moves on the nest, has a patience of patience. Thank you for the praise 🙂 Even the history of the area where eagles nest here, of course, there is no need to apologize. Thank you and have a nice evening 🙂
I, like Mrs. Marie, must express my great admiration to you, Mrs. Petro. The shot is completely unreal.
If we are "neighbors" - Třeb.u L. vs. Rce - do you know my biology teacher - the well-known ornithologist Stanislav Chvapil? ([email protected])
Have a nice Sunday 🙂
Hello Mrs. Leona, thank you. I'm just an amateur, I admire ornithologists' work, it's a beautiful and demanding profession. Personally, I do not know Stanislav Chvapil. I also wish you a nice Sunday 🙂
Mrs. Mary, I am completely ecstatic as far as we have taken our interest in the area of life of our eagles. After reading / not reading in other chats, it's amazing. By the way, will we ever find out if Dorothea is really the mother of BN …………. ? As for the "knowledge" of the nest - I only deal with M + R and Mom Decorah + DM2 - they are my "family members" :-). I watch Bubo bubo in Latvia and Jackie and Shadow at Big Bear, but rather marginally. Even so, it's crazy with time - to put everything together, I go to bed at one, two in the morning and then get up to... read more

This transmission will no longer work because all the devices have already been dismantled and installed in another nest built by sea ears where it is still in the test mode. But recently there are rock eagles.
Video recording of Eagle Knipse's release
https://www.zoocam.info/zapis/knips-je-volny/
Wonderful, and for that look, the effort is worth it. I hope Knips will be fine and live a beautiful and long life. Thanks to Petro, a great experience
Young male Knips, who dropped out of the nest and was taken to a rescue station, was released!
Thanks to Petro, great news
It happened, Janis corrected the camera, transmission is running. But it is dark in the morning to see if Boss returns to the nest.
If everything goes as planned, Janis Kuze should be in the nest area tomorrow and try to fix the camera.
Janis recently visited the nest, the eagles stayed nearby. Camera repair could happen over the next week. The young knight Knips, who dropped out of the nest and is now in the rescue station, will be released in September !!!
22: 30 Bos will sleep on his nest today
Bos is somewhere on the branches where the camera does not look
12.7 18,43 dinner does not fly, so I call her
17: 28: 26 Bos on Branch !!!
Here the eagle finally has a good piece of meat on the nest, it looks like a heron
Here is a transmission failure.
28.6. I have already commented that the older one hurts the younger with the wrong way. Even though it had calmed down over time, he did not miss his fate. But especially that he survived and perhaps returns to nature, thanks to the people.
