Barn Owl - description
The barn owl nest is located near the visitor center "Casa Palillos" in Cabañeros National Park, between the provinces of Ciudad Real and Toledo, in Castilla-La Mancha, Spain.
Owl burned is a night hunter with perfect hearing. It is striking especially due to the heart-shaped veil around the eyes. It is the most widespread species of owl on all continents. They fish mainly at dusk and at night. The prey is devouring the whole, the coat, the feathers, and other indigestible parts, like other owls, is discarded by their sacking in the form of shingles.
The burnt owl creates permanent pairs, which usually remain faithful to the place of nesting. The flow begins depending on climatic conditions in February or March, and both partners hear shrill harsh shrieks during it.
The death rate of the owl burnt in the first year of life is high and may reach up to 72%. The main cause of the fall of the owl is the significant changes in the cultural farming landscape, leading to a lack of suitable nests and food. High mortality occurs regularly during severe winter winters, which are more susceptible to owls due to lower storage capacity and poor insulating ability of plumage. Together with the increase in road traffic, the number of birds killed by vehicles is increasing.
