Eagle bald webcam in Decorah
Bald Eagle - description
The Orli Decorah nestles near the Trout Hatchery, the Decorah Hatchery, located on 2325 Spring Rd in Decorah, Iowa. The female is known as mom and the male is known as DM2 (the second male of the Eagle Decorah).
Generally, the courtship begins in October, productive mating in late January or early February, and laying in mid to late February. Hatching usually begins in late March to early April and young eagles fly out of the nest in mid-late June. While young people usually disperse between August and October, adults remain in the territory throughout the year. They eat live and dead fish, squirrels, other birds, rabbits, possums and anything else they can catch or find.
History of Eagles Decorah
Dad, the original male disappeared in April 2018. Based on the color of her feathers, she was four years old in 2007 and fifteen in 2018.
After two more males arrived and left, mom received a third suitor. In December 2018 Mom and DM2 worked on the N2B nest, defending the territory together and mating.
Raptor Resource Project 'has been broadcasting the nest online for 10 years.

The Bald Eagle is a large predatory bird living in North America. It is the national bird and the state symbol of the United States of America. It occurs in most areas of Canada and Alaska, throughout the continental United States and northern Mexico, mostly near large open waters with abundant food supplies and old nesting trees.
The adult individual has brown feathers on the body and white on the head and tail. The tail is not too long and its shape somewhat resembles a triangle. Both males and females are colored the same way. The beak, the claws and the iris have a bald eagle in yellow. He has short, strong fingers with big claws on the unsightly fangs. A fingertip on the back finger pierces vital points on the victim's body, while his forefinger holds her motionless. It has a large beak of hooked shape with yellow rays.
An infant has brown feathers with white spots until their fifth (exceptionally fourth, rarely and third) year when they are sexually mature. The Bald Eagle is a large bird with body length 70-102 centimeters, 1,68-2,44 meter wingspan and 2,5-7 kilogram weight. The females are roughly a quarter bigger than the male, the average weight is 5,8 kg and in the case of the male 4,1 kg. Body dimensions vary according to the geographical location - the smallest individuals live in Florida, where the male exceptionally exceeds the weight of 2,3 kg and the 1,8 meter wingspan, on the contrary, the largest live in Alaska, where a large female can exceed the weight of 7,5 kg and a range of 2,4 meters
In the wild there is an average of twenty years, the oldest can live up to thirty years and in captivity even longer. In one case, a captive in New York has been living 50 for years. Just as dimensions, life expectancy is affected by the place of occurrence.
It produces faint, whirling sounds that are more pronounced in a younger than an adult.

23.8. Soar Update One of the tasks young bald eagles have to handle is “water practice” - learning how to catch objects from the water. The GoPro camcorder (wonderful to be weather and water resistant) has been placed at the bottom of the wading pool. This provides a good view of the 20 × 60 airspace ceiling. Kay went to put thawed fish into the pool. Everyone must learn to catch food from the water! Meanwhile, DN9 decided it was a spa day! At the end of the video he leaves the DN9 pool, but returns and look at the camera a little closer. I'm not sure she turned the camera on her side with her beak... read more
That's beautiful ! Orlík is a hedonist 🙂
19.8. RRP update
Thank you for watching us this year at Decorah and Decorah North! On Saturday 17. August at 17 hours we turned off the Decorah and Decorah North cameras for cleaning and maintenance. Online transmission from both nests will resume in early October.
19-08-2019 Thanks a lot for notifying me, I wondered why the recording was running.
It is a pity that we will not see them for some time now, but it is understandable - maintenance is necessary before the season. So the recording of a bathing young eagle was at the last minute :-). And it was worth it.
But who knows what happens before the cameras turn on. Whether the original male will return ………… .. We look forward to the next season :-).
The looping record is beautiful, so we can enjoy the beauty of “our” eagles at least as much 🙂
17-08-2019 So it was beauty! Probably in 17,30 CET, the young eagle bathed in the river - enjoyed about 7 min. 🙂
17-08-2019 Immediately in the morning, 13 throw CET, a young eagle, under the supervision of "Mama Decorah", is flying into the nest 🙂
16-8-2019 early morning (still in black-and-white camera mode) beautiful shots of both eagles + activity of the “young” to build a new-nest nest 🙂
16: 20 SEEK view of N2B nest and surroundings
Beautiful videos, it looks like a young man has a chance with Mom, just like Shadow in BB

Very interesting and enlightening. Thanks !!!
15.8 SOAR!
Enjoy this video from the D33, DN9, Allamakee and Calmar airspace captured on the GoPro 13. August 2019. There's a little noise… the hum is an exhaust fan that circulates air through the building. Juvenile at the end of the camera video is D33. Savanna confirmed this because she has a lacquered claw!

That's beautiful !!! Our eagle is handsome and in perfect condition :-).
……… it in our place - the eagles are shooting do 🙁 🙁 !!!
15.8. young man in action again in the morning .. builds a nest on the site of the original nest N1. I wonder how it will turn out here if DM2 returns to the second nest of N2B and with whom the female eventually nests. Maybe it's a descendant of the N1 nest from 2015.
Well, sir, how's it going? 🙂
14-08-2019 All day beautiful, new shots of mom Decorah and young eagle. Looks like the young wants to build a new nest - carrying twigs on a tree with a camera above the bridge. Shots really beautiful.
13.8. SOAR !!! ~ Camera shy? ~ D33 yelled at the GoPro camera last week. Imagine that the camera was completely intimidated… D33, DN9, Allamakee and Calmar are still in the 20 × 60 airspace, refining their landing capabilities and doing training flights. We will try to make another video in this flight area. https://www.facebook.com/SOAR-Saving-Our-Avian-Resources-422229164528389/ ~ We have a boy! ~ Last week was important for D32 - the leg wrap was removed (and not replaced) by the vet, D32 was weighed and beak depth was measured! He's a boy !! .. Kay has a confirmation for us that D32 is really a boy based on measurement... read more
That's awesome !!! 🙂
It's beautiful how eagles are taken care of ……… 🙂
8-8-2019 in the morning (their time) beautiful shots of both eagles 🙂
6.8. 22: 25 Mom on a branch, it's been an hour and a half
05-08-2019 a beautiful black bird landed on the nest early in the morning with white "polka dots" 🙂
It was a starling, which is washed.
🙂 🙂 🙂 Who would say he's such a dude! So I am an expert …………. Díky 🙂
4.8. D32 UPDATES
~ New wrap, D32
Last week D32 (this is still a sex estimate) had a wrap changed. Why still wrap? Like a man with a broken bone on his leg, the support material is still used a few weeks after the plaster has been removed (think about walking). D32 still needs some support as it moves around the 10 × 20 'cover. A new room? Yes, he shares the quarters with our best "model eater", the Bald Eagle - Decorah (FKA D20).

If D32 is the one in his arms with a blue wrap on his leg, he's really beautiful. I have to admire great bird care all the time.
Thanks for the new information. L.
Hello Mrs. Leono, D32 is on the photo after treatment. Have a nice evening 🙂
4.8. SOAR UPDATES The GoPro camera has been mounted in the corner of the 20 × 60 flight compartment to get a video of the eagle's first flight. In this space are D33 and DN9 (both females) and Allamakee and Calmar (both males). Soft release at SOAR is still the plan for the bald eagle of 2019 when everyone is ready to launch. The Eagles at SOAR are provided with supportive care. A soft release is such that after the prepared patient is accustomed to eating and navigating in this airspace, then a window / door opens and the bird can leave when ready. This flight area is then left empty, open... read more
3.8. 14: 00 Mom Decorah on a branch of a nesting tree
1-8-2019 It seems that our eagles have finally got rid of the intrusive black flies - they stop shaking!
28-07-2019 Today again beautiful details of a young eagle.
21: 10 Mum Decorah's mom and the young man sit side by side on a branch of a nesting tree. Today they have a great wind there.
Today they are beautiful shots again.
It seems that the female also prefers the youngster, unless it is her offspring. as in BB Jackie and Shadow.
26.7. 13: 24 CET young eagle bastion on a branch of a fish, the female is nearby on another branch
Aha! Now I just realized that he is only getting the white feathers on his head - he's a young eagle, as I learned today in the news and also from you. And I had him (poor man) before as some fucked eagle. Well, I'm an "expert" :-). Otherwise, thank you very much for all of today's news about young eagles 🙂 - taking care of them is admirable. A beautiful day. L.
Hello Mrs. Leona, you write that you learned in the news, can you send me a link? I also wish a nice rest of the day…. PS: I hope it rains here tomorrow, the heat is unbearable.
Good evening, I'm sorry, I just arrived home - I was wrong, I meant news about eagles - here, for which we thank you very much.
The heat here is terrible, not to mention the drought, but who knows if it will rain tomorrow. On our bank of the Elbe it will drive Říp. More often the rain will fall on your Litomerice side :-). Good evening.
So I misunderstood again 🙂 Mainly that we agree 😀 And you are not at all ... Have a nice evening.
The fish was big ……
26.7. Raptor Resource Project Update on Decorah We get a lot of questions about Decorah. Where is DM2? What is the young eagle doing there? Could it be one of Mom's offspring? Let's start with what we know. We haven't seen DM2 by 11. July, the day before the youthful eagle was first seen. Are these two things connected? It's hard to say. We didn't see much of DM2 because the young eagles were taken to SOAR, which would seem to be a distraction from the eagle's point of view. When viewing footage from previous years, both eagles (but dad a little more than mom) did not stay too much and were not much... read more
27.6. VIDEO RECORD SOAR
Here is a glimpse of the move for the rehabilitation of predators. The bald eagle D33 and DN9 are moving to 20 × 60 ‚. This is a compilation of three videos: DN9 launched into flight space, D33 weighed, and then D33 was released into flight space, followed by a brief flight of DN9.

26.7. SOAR UPDATES ~ Change scenery ~ Bald eagle 2019 from nursery has moved to flight space 20 × 60 ‚! D33, DN9, Allamakee and Calmar have moved 23. July and now they can “start the engines”, so to speak. This flight area is large enough to allow the necessary short flights that build muscle, stamina and landing skills. Moving birds from one space to another is the time to get updated weights. D33 holds firmly on 5 kilograms and its beak depth has not increased (3,35 cm). DN9 has gained 300 grenades (up to 4.2 Kg) and HER beak depth is now... read more
24-07-2019 Beautiful eagle details!
21.7. 10: 25 CET is sleeping on a branch of a nesting tree and is not a female with DM2 (it has not been seen on camera for days). When you return the transmission in the time bar you can see the beautiful young 4,5 year-old eagle at the lights. The female is calm, his visit does not matter. Maybe a descendant? We won't find out that when he doesn't circle around here. Or it can be a stranger, there is no nesting time so the female is at rest.
13-7-2019 also two eagles slept over the nest. Today I missed in daylight and sleeping in the dark I do not recognize :-(.
20.7. SOAR UPDATES The eagles in the nursery (D33, DN9, Allamakee and Calmar) are ready to move to the next airspace to allow them a short flight. The weather has different ideas. It's just too hot to move the eagles and make them stressful. It is better to keep them where they are in constant wind, shade and cold water in their pool. In kindergarten, eagles eat and smell, wave their wings, bathe and look good. The eagle shown in the photo is Calmar during the move to SOAR, friends of Brian and Patti, who saved him, transported and photographed it. After these young ones... read more
13.7. Update D32 ~ D32 Update on 12. July 2019 ~ This week was a busy day for D32. Tuesday, Kay and Savanna took D32 to another X-ray clinic. Dr. Riordan was pleased with the healing and said he should take off the plaster. The interruption was corrected and further calcification occurred. When the bones heal, the body stores more calcium at the wound site. So far, calcification does not seem to affect D32's ankle joint. Thanks for the photos, Savanna! Dr Riordan removed the casting, layer by layer when Kay held D32. After another day of rest in the box and observation, D32 showed signs that he needed more space (more... read more
These are amazing news !!! People who take care of the affected birds are admirable :-).
13-7-2019 Our 12.7 Eagles. they appeared in camera surveillance and stayed here all day. Even at 13.7. sleeping both on the nest, respectively. on a branch above it. The female explored the nest itself. It was obvious that the flies were still bothering them, and the male seemed to have had enough of his head if it was the original male. But I guess so.
9.7. 16: 30 CET beautiful shots close up on a female sitting on a branch of a nesting tree
Thanks a lot for warning! I go through a record every day, but today I didn't do it for Mike and Riks. It is beautiful. But it can be seen that flies are still bothering her, she still knocks her head :-(.
